Summary

After Max's family is murdered in the first film, he wanders out into the wasteland.  The movie opens with a chase scene.  Max still possesses the V8 Interceptor and his only companion is a Blue Heeler.  He is being pursued by a Smegma Crazy who's driving a modified dune buggy, a Gayboy Berserker steering the road racer, and the Mohawker - Mighty Wez, handling the Kawasaki with the Golden Youth riding pillion.  The villains are known as the Dogs of War, commanded by the Humungus.

As the Dogs of War pursue Max, they come upon a wreck on the highway.  Max manages to steer his Interceptor through the chaos on the road, while Wez ramps the first cannibalized vehicle and safely guides his motorcycle through the rest of the wrecks.  The Road Racer hits the first smashed up car but manages to get his vehicle under control and crests through the other stand-still wrecks.  The Dune Buggy says not a chance and veers his car off the highway to the safety of the sand.

When Max realizes he's getting low on gas, he switches off the super-charger which gives Wez and the Road Racer a chance to overtake him.  But Max slams on the brakes just as the Gayboy Berserker fires his porta-pack.  The stray arrow catches Wez in the arm and he leaves the road.  Max then fires up his super-charger and begin ramming the Road Racer.  Suddenly, the Dune Buggy appears.  The vehicles collide.  The Road Racer flips over and over, finally coming to a rest on its roof.

Seeing his chance to get some gasoline, Max hits the brakes and backs up the Interceptor.  He hurries out of the car, followed by his Dog with his gas can.  Just then Wez appears on the hill, screaming in anger since he still has the arrowhead in his forearm.  Max ignores the Kawasaki and chooses to siphon the Dune Buggy's fuel tank.  When he hears a war cry, he glances at Wez.  The evil Mohawker is removing the arrowhead from his arm.  Then he turns his big bike around and drives off into the wasteland.

Left alone, Max spies the Mack truck and taps the fuel tank but there's no gasoline.  Just as he opens the driver side door, a corpse falls out and crashes to the ground.  Max spies the tiny music box in the dead driver's hand so he plays the birthday tune and then sets the toy in his jacket.  With his gas tank refueled, he heads off into the wasteland.

The next morning, he spies a gyroplane and steers the Interceptor off the gravel road to investigate.  As he gets out of the car and approaches the flying vessel, the Gyro Captain makes his appearance.  He rises from the sand, aiming a crossbow on Max.  The Gyro Captain then decides he wants the gas Max has in his Interceptor.  So he orders Max to switch off the booby-trap.  But he's fooled by the hero when he tries to open the car door and Dog leaps out, savagely attacking the Gyro Captain.  Max whips out his knife and sits on the man's chest.  The Gyro Captain then tells Max about the refinery, where gasoline as much as he wants is being drawn from the ground.  So Max ties up the poor man and heads off to find this compound.

When they arrive, Max shields them behind the rocks of a hill.  He uses his binoculars to take in the situation.  He sees the same vermin who chased him on the highway down below, attempting to break their way into the compound.  The defenders have secured the safety of the gasoline they possess.  A battlement has been erected, armed with flamethrowers.  Huge trenches with coiled, barbwire fencing surrounds the rest of the compound.

The Humungus is seated on his big vehicle, barking orders at his Dog of War through a microphone.  Might Wez rides up with his Golden Youth, shouting and waving his arm.  He's accompanied by a blue-haired Mohawker.  Max again focuses his attention on the compound, wondering how he can get inside the well-guarded fortress.

The next morning, Max awakes to the sounds of engines gunning.  Three vehicles have left the compound and the Dogs of War are giving chase.  Then another vehicle leaves the safety of the base camp and heads off behind the rocky hill.  Led by Wez with the Golden Youth, three motorcycles and a battle tow-truck pursue the car.  Max watches through his binoculars as the villains overtake the vehicle and it flips over, losing some tires.  The scavenge begins as the marauders siphon the fuel tanks, rape the female and Wez takes pleasure in pinning the helpless man to the car with two arrows from his metal-wrist crossbow.

With Wez leading the way and his Golden Youth seated on the pillion, the marauders ride off, leaving one Mohawker behind.  Max sees an opportunity to try and negotiate with the defenders, maybe getting some gasoline.  He heads for his Interceptor and drives off to the wreck.  He knocks out the Mohawker and unpins the man from the car.  He explains he's only here for 'the gasoline.'  The man begs Max to take him back and he'll in turn give him all the gas he wants.  So Max brings back the wounded victim to the compound.  The defenders let Max in when they recognize the wounded man.  The Captain's Girl and another assist the victim while Pappagello, leader of the compound, begins questioning Max.  The victim dies, along with the contract he made with Max.

Just then a guard alerts everyone the marauders are returning.  So the defenders takes their places at the battlement and Max is handcuffed so he can be interrogated later.  Much to their dismay, they spy some of their own people lashed to the cars driven by the Dogs of War.

The Toadie, who's riding on the back of the Humungus's big rig, jumps off the back, waving his arms about in the air as he makes a gesture for silence.  So all the Marauders cut their engines, get out of their vehicles and step forward.  After the Toadie announces his presence, the Humungus switches on a microphone and begins telling the defenders he knows about their plan since he has interrogated the defenders he captured.

Just then the Feral Kid emerges from a rabbit hole.  He has a boomerang anchored at his side and he throws the projectile weapon at the marauders.  When he misses, he quickly backs up and catches his weapon.  Then he sets the boomerang in motion again, this time taking down a victim, Wez's Golden Youth.  The marauders are stunned that a child has killed on of their own.  Wez wrenches the steel projectile weapon from his lover's forehead, and in a fit of anger, throws the boomerang at the Feral Kid.  His aim is off though.  And the weapon continues to soar through the air and the Toadie tries to catch the steel object, but he loses his fingers in the process.  All the marauders laugh, finding the moment funny.  The Humungus is livid and calls for silence.  Wez, however, who is bent over gazing at his dead lover, goes into a fit of rage and announces he will kill every marauder.  The Humungus puts the second-in-command into a sleepy hold, telling Wez to remain calm.  He lets his strongest Dog of War know once they have the gasoline, he can than get his revenge.  Wez is dazed and a Mohawker carts him off to a motorcycle side car.

The Humungus continues with his speech, warning the defenders there is no escape and they should just walk away.  He fires up his big vehicle and the marauders also fire up their engines and they all leave.

The people inside the compound now have a big decision to make.  Some want to just leave, while others choose to stay and fight.  During their dispute, Max pipes up, telling them he saw a rig two days ago that could easily haul their tanker full of gasoline.  He proposes and offer:  give him all the diesel he can carry and he'll return with the rig for them.  The defenders are left with little choice since every day, "they get stronger and we get weaker."

So Max sneaks out of the compound under the cover of night, heading the twenty miles it'll take to reach the big rig.  Suddenly, he stumbles and falls into a huge hole.  Ever alert Wez hears the noise and quickly leaves the marauders camp to investigate.  The Feral Kid begins howling like a wolf so Wez tosses a rock in the kid's direction and stalks back off to the camp fire.  Max continues on his way.

Just as dawn is breaking, he comes across the Gyro Captain who's still chained to the log, and he's dragging the big piece of lumber behind him, stumbling through the sand.  Max grins since he knows he'll no longer have to carry the six jugs of diesel.  So once again the poor Gyro Captain is Max's prisoner and he follows him to the rig.  Max manages to get the rig going and he tosses the key to the lock at the Gyro Captain, telling the skinny man to do whatever he wants to.

As Max heads to the compound, the Gyro Captain follows in his small plane.

Wez is getting a haircut from another Mohawker when he hears the engine of the big rig.  He whips about on the rock and his eyes fill with hate, rage, frustration and anger.  He begins hollering at the other marauders to get in their vehicles.  Wez jumps into the sidecar of a motorcycle and they begin chasing Max, trying to stop the rig from entering the compound.
